Special Event Sponsorship Opportunities

Storybook Soirée
The Children’s Museum of Winston-Salem’s annual fundraiser includes an evening of heavy hors d’oeuvres, festive drinks, and a silent auction. Proceeds from the Soiree help to underwrite the annual operating costs of the Museum to provide access for all children and families in the Winston-Salem community. The 2016 Storybook Soiree was based on The Secret Garden, the beloved novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett.

Where Innovation Begins Gala

In 2010, the SciWorks Board of Directors introduced a new fundraiser to inspire the community and raise the profile of the science center as the place that inspires young minds in Winston-Salem, the City of Arts and Innovation. The year 2016 marked the seventh annual Where Innovation Begins fundraiser,  held on May 20 at Old Town Club.

Truck & Treat
In 2016, Truck & Treat drew over 2,500 attendees to the Museum and downtown area. The event has quickly become a favorite Fall tradition for Triad families. The event centers around 25+ unique vehicles parked outside the Museum that children can explore, Halloween activities, novelties, and more. The event has a ‘festival feel’ with food vendors, entertainment, a bounce-house, fun and exciting vehicles and trick or treating. Families also love being able to play both in and outside of the museum on a beautiful Fall afternoon. Truck & Treat admission is $5/person, a discount of $2 from the usual admission rate. Truck & Treat sponsors have a variety of opportunities for recognition including banner placement, social media outreach, e-blasts, and more.

Summer Camps
(June – August)
Sponsors will receive name/company logo recognition on all materials related to summer camp including the CMWS/SciWorks camp brochure, website, e-newsletter, calendar, e-blasts, and flyers sent to all elementary school children in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County school district. Each child attending summer camp will also receive a t-shirt with the Children’s Museum logo and your company’s logo. Camp themes include music, theatre, art, building construction, and science among others.

Program Sponsorship Opportunities

The Children’s Museum and SciWorks are always looking for innovative ways to collaborate with our corporate partners. Below  you will find just a few of the many opportunities the Museums offer for corporate sponsorship. As the Museums work through their merger, opportunities for programmatic support will continue to grow. Please reach out to VP of Philanthropy, Elizabeth Marsh ((336) 723-9111 x 204 or emarsh@childrensmuseumofws.org) to discuss partnership opportunities for your company.

Kick Off to Kindergarten
The Kick Off to Kindergarten program targets rising kindergarten students and their families. In its 7th year, the Children’s Museum is looking to rework the program to take place earlier in the year giving parents and children more time to prepare for Kindergarten. In the past, the program has included workshops for parents and experiences for children including a pretend lunch line with a healthy snack and access to a real school bus.

Discount Nights
The Children’s Museum and SciWorks likes to partner with businesses at least once per quarter to offer not only $3 admission to the museum, but a free admission option with a donation as well. As a sponsor of a discount Friday night, the museum can work with another non-profit of your choice or one tackling a relevant issue to offer free admission. Previous examples include school supplies, clothing, canned goods and others.

Discounted Sunday Admission
In an effort to encourage more visits on Sundays and to offer another opportunity for more members of the community to be able to afford to visit the Children’s Museum, we would like to begin a Discount Sunday program. This program would reduce admission from $7 to $5 per person every Sunday for an entire year. We are very excited about this opportunity and believe it is a great marketing tool for a company to receive one year’s worth of advertising and marketing along with the museum for this program.

Adopt a School & Title I Field Trip Sponsorship
More than 30,000 students  visited the Children’s Museum of Winston-Salem  and SciWorks during the last fiscal year. Of those, approximately 15,000 students came from schools with a Title I designations. As the number of schools classified as Title 1 continues to rise, the Museums must find ways to offset the cost incurred by offering discounted field trips. At the Children’s Museum and SciWorks, all exhibits and programs support pertinent goals and objectives of the North Carolina Standard Course of Study for K through 3rd or North Carolina Early Learning Foundations for pre-K students.
