Week of June 13-17

Art Explosion (Age 3)

9 – 11 a.m.

Give your 3 year old a chance to try their hand at camp and let their hands get messy!  A short camp, only 9 – 11 a.m., gives your little one a chance to play away from home, experiment with the messiest of art supplies, and gain social skills before they start preschool. Snack provided.

What’s your favorite part of the circus? Whether it’s the animals, the performers, the costumes, or the big top, we’ll explore the elements of the circus through games, crafts, and Museum exploration.

Build Your Story (Rising Grades 1- 4)

Bring your imagination to life!  We will provide all the materials: tools, blocks, Legos, boxes, paints, and everything you need to build the landscapes and cities of your dreams. Every building has a story, and we will read about great structures that can inspire our own stories.

Strum, Drum, and Hum* (Age 4 - Rising K)

Calling all singers, musicians, drummers, guitarists, and kazoo players extraordinaire!  Make some noise while we build instruments, lay down some beats, learn new music, and write our own songs.  By Friday, we will have a short concert to present our own performance for our families and friends!

Rhythm & Rhymes* (Rising Grades 1-4)

Join CMWS for a week of music and rhythm and learn how they interact with our daily lives. We’ll sing, play instruments, compose original music, and write our own lyrics. Guest musicians will join throughout the week. Our campers’ families and friends will be invited to join us on Friday for a performance. No music background required.

Masquerade! (Age 4- Rising K)

You can be anything you desire behind a mask! From animal masks to monsters and even each other… we’ll parade around the Museum as a troupe in disguise.

Puppets a'Plenty with Peppercorn* (Rising Grades 1-4)

Shadow puppets, paper puppets, fabric, and string… puppets dance, puppets cry, puppets giggle, and sing!  The Museum welcomes Peppercorn Theatre for a one-week puppet residency with our campers! Be sure to invite your family and friends to see your puppet exhibition on Friday this week.

Romp, Stomp, and Roar (Age 4- Rising K)

Do you love animals, of any kind, from any millennium?  From dinosaurs to puppy dogs, we will learn about animals from the jungle, the farm, the Ice Age, the zoo, the North Pole, the desert, and our own backyard! Meet some real animals and even romp, stomp, and roar like your favorite critters!

We’ll take on the roles of authors, illustrators, designers, and storytellers! Explore your world and create original stories, read captivating books, play word games, collect favorite words, write poetry and – by the end of the week – create your very own book. Build creative thinking and listening skills, strengthen personal expression, and increase vocabulary in a fun, no pressure environment.

Twirling in Tutus (Age 4- Rising K)

Dancers of all levels are invited to dance the week away at the Children’s Museum!  Be ready to spin like Angelina Ballerina or dance a royal waltz like Sofia the First.  We will design our own tutu outfits for our final performance on Friday, so moms and dads, mark your calendars and bring your cameras!

Spend the week on an intergalactic journey! We’ll create props and costumes akin to our favorite characters from distant galaxies and alternate universes. Challenge yourself in outer space obstacle courses, practice your saber skills, create fun crafts, and more. May the Force be you!

What’s inside your imagination?  Join CMWS and Peppercorn Theatre for a week of sharing stories, acting them out, writing them down, and illustrating the journey!  Together, we will write an original script. Everyone gets to bring home a copy on Friday!

Casting call: 1st—4th graders who are ready to put on a show!  Our cast of campers, along with Peppercorn Theatre, will spend the week writing, building sets and costumes, and rehearsing for a final performance on Friday. No previous acting experience required!

Send your young painters to the Museum for their last week before school starts, to send out the summer with a splash in the paint bucket! Campers will experiment with different kinds of paints and application techniques to create stunning works of art. Make some room on the refrigerator!

Here’s your chance to produce your own science fiction movie! Starting right away on Monday, we will begin to write our story, build our props, and practice intergalactic accents.  Learn how to plan a film shoot, and invite your family and friends to see the world premiere of your movie on Friday.
